Which is better Mechanical or Hydro disc brakes??

Which of the 2 styles of disc brakes avaliable for 1/5 scale onroad is superior and why??

iMHO, it depends on how much your going to spend.
I've run a set of RB's (Rodney Best's) as fitted to RS5's for years without a single problem, excellent brakes.
I've heard good things about the Mecca cable brakes.
Each have a down side, the hydro's 'could' get air in them (accident damage or poor maintenance), the cables will always stretch their cables.

The original FG cables were crap, The Magura hydro's are only good for a couple of months.

If I had to start out again, I'd by the RB's everytime, expensive but well worth the money.

ALSO, always buy the carbon type disks, NOT steel, steel gets hot, then they fade, then they warp.

Cable brakes are less trouble ,but Hydos are great if you service them properly.I've had both,currently running hydro on my contrast ,but if it had come with cables ,I wouldn't bother changing to hydros.Hope that helps. :roll:
